Rebirth of Prosperity in the Metropolitan Areas in the Kinki Region, including the Keihanshin Area

The urban areas are the source of the vitality of the Kinki region, and from the viewpoint of enhancing the region's attractive qualities, its capability to compete on an international scale, as well as the economy, it is considered that it is necessary to implement measures designed to generate a rebirth of prosperity in the metropolitan areas. In order to accomplish this goal, we will conduct projects designed to construct a comprehensive urban infrastructure, including solutions to traffic-related issues, such as improvements in important transportation junctions, and the reclamation and reconstruction of existing land to generate pleasant urban centers, as well as the construction of beautiful open urban spaces. There are several themes we consider of importance in the construction of this urban infrastructure, such as the need to integrate city and harbor planning projects, and the need to conduct river-related planning that is in tune with the various city planning projects, including the effective employment of the open spaces near both river- and port-related waterfronts.

In order to implement traffic relief measures and environment improvements in the Osaka urban district, and realize the construction of the Osaka Urban Reclamation Loop Road, we will continue to promote the related planning works, thus providing support for urban reclamation.
