Creation of a beautiful environment in the Kinki Region

Along with the preservation and efficient use of the historical and cultural assets and the rich natural resources that represent our country, we are stressing preservation of the various.phpects of the natural environment and promoting the creation of a new beautiful Kinki region, a region which is in harmony with the environment.

In order to conduct environment improvement works on the highways, such as National Highway Route 43, we are promoting cooperation and liaison between the various agencies involved.

Construction of green belts for environment improvement and the prevention of disasters
In order to carry out environment improvements along National Highway Route 43 (between Amagasaki and Nada Ward of Kobe City), we have purchased 222 sections of land (about 5.6 ha), and established green belts in three locations (about 0.3 ha). Construction will be completed on the remaining sections of land by the year 2004.

Promotion of field tests for new technologies
In order to eliminate suspended particulate matter (SPM) and NOx, we are conducting soil denitrification field tests in areas near intersections and roadways.
