Recently, the restructuring of our life-style to a form that supports an enhancement of our relative economic position and the changes in the tides of the time have become subjects for discussion. Under these circumstances, in order to make sufficient use of a variety of social sources of capital and cultural assets, to overcome fears in regard to a loss of vitality, and realize a characteristic vitalization of the region, it will be necessary to avoid being limited to the existing administrative framework as we apply our efforts in a variety of new plans and measures.

Within the Kinki Region, the amount of land that is densely employed has increased remarkably, and it is becoming quite difficult for the various autonomous bodies and companies in the industrial sector to ensure sites for the disposal of waste material in inland areas.
In this regard, working in close cooperation with the Environment Ministry, we are promoting the construction of a marine landfill waste disposal site to accommodate waste from 195 municipalities in six prefectures in the Kinki region.
These works will ensure the appropriate and stable disposal of waste material over a long-term period and in addition, this plan calls allows for the land generated by the project to be employed efficiently as a harbor facility, etc.
