Transformation from a "Japanese" Kinki to a "Global" Kinki Region

As we move on into the 21st century, efforts toward internationalization will increase even further, and, on a global scale, the exchange of people, products, and concepts is already well underway. Through a variety of projects designed to make the most of the characteristics and charms of the area, we are committed to doing our best to contribute to further development and the internationalization of the Kinki region.

Great Hanshin Earthquake Restoration

The Great Hanshin Earthquake rocked the southern part of Hyogo Prefecture in 1995, and the news presented by the press and television crews covering the disaster, shocking images of the devastating damage, with strong fires raging across Kobe City, completely destroyed homes, and collapsed expressways, etc., caused a lot of concern on an international scale.
It has been more than seven years since the disaster struck, but here, in this introduction to the earthquake, you can see the restoration measures we employed to recover from the massive damage, as well as the efforts undertaken to employ the lessons learned from the disaster in our various duties, such as city planning. |
