Technological Progress Through Education

     Working in cooperation with other related autonomous bodies and public corporations, the Kinki Regional Development Bureau (KRDB) set up the following courses in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as part of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) program for technical cooperation and the transfer of technical skills. Then, we composed course curriculums, selected lecturers and chose sites for each course.

KRDB Assistance for Infrastructure-related JICA Training Programs in 2002
Number of Cooperative Courses : Five (5) Courses

Disaster Mitigation and Restoration Systems for Infrastructure Facilities (for civil engineers)
Course Object: Acquire the skills required for the construction of the organizations and systems necessary for disaster restoration and the restoration technology required in cases of massive damage to the infrastructure.
Duration: May 6 - July 18, 2002
Environmental Assessment in Infrastructure Development (for civil engineers)
Course Object: Through the training program, participants are expected to:
  1. Deepen their knowledge of various methods employed for the protection of the environment (surveying, impact assessment, and so forth).
  2. Gain a better understanding of the relationship between construction projects and the environment.
  3. Be able to draft construction plans in harmony with the regional environment.
Duration: May 6 - July 21, 2002
Construction Management
Course Object: Through the training program, participants are expected to:
  1. Acquire the comprehensive knowledge and technical expertise required for construction systems, including the protection of the environment.
  2. Be able to control and supervise construction works efficiently using the knowledge and technical expertise gained in this course.
Duration: July 29 - November 7, 2002
Infrastructure Development and Planning ||
Course Object: Through the training program, participants are expected to:
Gain the knowledge and advanced technology necessary to prepare comprehensive plans for infrastructure development. (highways, flood control, etc.)
Duration: August 12 - October 20, 2002
Advanced Practical Construction Management (for civil engineers)
Course Object: Through the training program, participants are expected to:
  1. Gain an understanding of how to carry out construction project management.
  2. Understand how to make use of the technology available, implement plans, and perform maintenance.
Duration: August 26 - November 8, 2002
