Cities Coexisting with Abundant Natural Environment

The topography of Kansai is diverse, consisting of plains, basins, mountains, sea, and rivers. This makes the hills and mountains visible from any spot in the downtown areas, and there are plenty of waterfront areas facing the sea, and rivers in and near the downtown areas. Furthermore, a number of recreation facilities that make the best of the natural environment have been developed in the periphery of the cities.

A Variety of "Areas of Hustle and Bustle"

One of the many exciting things that cities offer is the hustle and bustle of the city center. In Kansai, a variety of such exciting spots can be found at many locations in Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. As Osaka is called the town of "kuidaore" (where one ruins oneself financially by one's extravagance in food), Kansai is known for the opportunities for epicurean joy it affords. Aside from the delights of food, in the proximity of Osaka's city center is a famous theme park, Universal Studios Japan, which has been attracting a great number of visitors who come to this region for sightseeing.

International Cities

A large number of foreign residents and visitors from overseas on business and pleasure make Kansai an international metropolitan area. Kansai is amply equipped with facilities for international exchanges, such as international convention centers and international schools. Modern festivals with an international flavor, such as the "Kobe Festival" and Osaka's "Midosuji Parade" are held annually.
